The working program of the project consists of four steps. The first and most important step is a systematic claim analysis of media reporting in high circulation newspapers. The unit of analysis is the ‘attribution of responsibility’, which is a specific kind of political claim that occurs when a sender attributes the responsibility of an evaluated object or action to an addressee. This method is a sensitive instrument for the standardized measurement of the backbone of a controversial discourse. The coding of selected newspaper articles is done with the usage an online coding tool constructed specifically for the purposes of this research. The second step is the content analysis of crucial parliamentary debates on Greek-EU relations and European integration issues. Content analysis of selected parliamentary minutes is carried out by using the qualitative data analysis software NVivo. In the third step we contact a policy analysis on the most important EC/EU related issues focusing on each occasion on the most important policy angle for the Greek public policy. The fourth step of the project is the conduction of semi-structured interviews with politicians, journalists and other opinion makers who appear as core EU politicization actors in our analysis.
